Thursday Night Trading Aids M. & Choyce
(N Z. Press Association) . AUCKLAND, October 14. Sales at the main store of George Court and Sons, Ltd, at Karangahape Road show “a very substantial increase since balance-date” compared with the corresponding period last year. The chairman (Mr J. W. Coney) told shareholders this at the annual meeting today. The most significant influence on last year’s result was the sales and profit performance of the Karangahape Road store. As previously reported, the company lifted net profit by $33,644, or 48 per cent, to a peak $103,793 in the year to July 19. In reply to a question from a shareholder, Mr Coney said that Thursday night late shopping had greatly assisted the company’s trading.
