Well Samples
Samples from the oil-pros-pecting well drilled at Brookside have been presented to the Canterbury Museum. The samples are from the Leeston No. 1 well, drilled by the New Zealand Petroleum Exploration Company, Ltd, for the BP-Shell-Todd exploration consortium in July and August this year. They were taken from 10ft intervals for the first 1160 ft, and there is also a core of greywacke taken from the bottom of the hole at 3897 ft.
