The Canadian Prime Minister (Mr Pierre Trudeau) said today that he would continue Ms policy of mingling with protest groups, despite a recent complaint that he struck a youth during a demonstration. He said in a statement telephoned from his Mediterranean holiday retreat that he had a responsibility to meet in public “many of those who claim to have a grievance against our Government or our society.” A Justice of the Peace on Friday refused to allow a charge of common assault against the Prime Minister on the ground that there was not enough evidence.— Ottawa, August 26.
