Ryan Out Of Steeples
The Tokoroa athlete, M. L. Ryan, who was to run in the Skellerup Steeples at Queen Elizabeth Park on July 12, has withdrawn. However, his place has been taken by another Tokoroa club runner and a full team will still compete in the race. The four members of the Tokoroa team are J. Robertson, who represented New Zealand in Scotland earlier this year, N. Fleming, R. House and R. Alcorn, a former Canterbury runner, who set a world-class time in the New Brighton 50-mile race several years ago and has been living in Australia recently. The class of entry is almost as good as for a New Zealand crosscountry championship, for seven of the team in Scotland are competing, as well as the national mile champion, R. Quax, and the three-mile champion, J. LeGrice.
