Library Fee Queried
The abolition of special library fees for out-of-district borrowers should be discussed with the City Council, Cr W. T. Rice told a meeting of the Waimairi County Council last evening.
He said that there was a problem with these fees, charged to Waimairi residents using city libraries, and vice versa.
Cr Rice made his comments in a finance committee discussion on a report from the library sub-committee that requests had been made for more money for hooks and more staff at the Fendalton and Redwood libraries.
Members declined to ask the City Council for a discussion on the mutual abolition of out-of-district fees, but councillors were asked to give favourable consideration to increasing library allocations from riding accounts.
New Organisation.— Administrative officers of secondary school boards are to form an association to seek better conditions and salaries, and better staffing for secondary boards and secondary schools. —(P.A.)
