Export Of Tiles
A $250,000 order for decramastic roofing tiles has been won in Australia by the Auckland firm, L. J. Fisher and Company, Ltd. The order, representing one million square feet of roofing, was obtained on a visit to Australia by the marketing manager of Alex Harvey Industries, Ltd, Mr D. G. Buckleton, and the general manager of L. J. Fisher, Mr P. D. Mulgrew. The tiles will be delivered during the next five months and marketed throughout Australia by Australian Fibre Glass Proprietry, Ltd. The company’s first large Australian order came last year when $115,000 worth of tiles were supplied for the roofing of houses at the Mount Tom Price iron ore project in Western Australia. A second $50,000 order has recently been received for a similar project. Sixteen years ago L. J. Fisher were world pioneers tn the manufacture of decramastic roofing tiles. Today, as well as being exported to a number of overseas markets, the tiles are made in South Africa under licence to the New Zealand company and a pilot plant is operating in the United States.
