Moncks Spur
Sir, —I would like to ask the City Engineer why the dumping of spoil is permitted along the roadside of Moncks Spur. The traffic department was concerned some months ago about the over-hanging branches on some parts of the Spur. On one bend, the dumping of spoil on the footpath, from a private residence, has caused a greater hazard to both pedestrian and driver. This clay extends for many yards and will turn to mud during the winter. With the storm water which pours down the road, it will cause an additional danger to traffic.—Yours, etc., SAFETY FIRST. April 8, 1969. [The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) replies: “A resident has placed some filling along the outside edge of the road to prevent surface water running into his property, but there is no footpath on this section of Moncks Spur. If the correspondent eould be more specific as to the exact location, further investigations will be made.”] -
