DAMAGE TO FLAGPOLE
Police Arrest Student <N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 8. Auckland police arrested a 20-year-old university student today and charged him with the wilful damage of the flagpole at Waitangi on April 23 The youth, who will appear in the Auckland Magistrates Court tomorrow, was also charged with unlawfully taking an Army vehicle from Waiouru earlier this week and with unlawfully taking a New Zealand Road Services bus in Auckland. An unemployed 18-year-old youth was charged with the same offences relating to the vehicles. He will also appear in court tomorrow. Damage to the flagpole was estimated at $2OOO.
