ALL BLACK TOUR

Decision By Methodists (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 29. Auckland Methodist district synod tonight voted, 59 to 28, against pressing for the cancellation of the proposed Rugby tour of South Africa by the All Blacks in 1970. The synod passed a resolution calling on the New Zealand Government to secure from the South African Government a “clear, unequivocal assurance’’ that no Maori selected to tour and no Maori who wishes to travel as a tour spectator would be denied entry into South Africa on the grounds of being nonwhite; would be denied the same treatment as any white player or spectator; and would have to suffer an indignity of being classified as a temporary, honorary white.

War Women. Officers elected at the annual reunion of the Overseas Women War Workers’ Association were:— president, Lady Hay; vicepresidents, Misses J. Erwin and E. Hodges; committee, Mesdames Wornall and McCutcheon, Misses M. Hodges, K. Biand, A. K. Scott, and H. Ensor; secretary-treasurer, Miss A. C. Fleming.
