MELBOURNE SALES
The over all average for the Victorian yearling sales held last week was $2314; 239 lots were sold for an aggregate of $553,075. This compared favourably with last year's record figure when 264 lots were sold for an aggregate of $513,328 at a record average of $2388. A half-brother to the disqualified colt, Follow Me, was sold for $5250 on the final afternoon of the sales. Ironically the purchaser of the colt was Mr F. Ford, former manager of the Asian Syndicates Melbourne racehorses. The Filipino millionaire, Mr Felipe Ysmael, the trainer, C. Waymouth, and the jockey, G. Hope, were all suspended for two years after an inquiry intoi the performance of the two- 1 year-old. Follow’ Me. at Moonee! Valley last December.
