It has appointed Professor R. T. Appleyard, of the University of Western Australia, and Dr C. A. Price, of the Australian National University, as joint-Directors of the project. The successful applicant, and other Research Fellows appointed in the near future, will work under their general direction. Applications are now sought from persons with academic training in one or more of the social sciences to undertake research on Professional Immigrant Manpower in Australia. The appointee will be expected to assess the net gain to Australia from professionally trained immigrants and to assess the prospective demand , for them during the next few years. He will also investigate ■ problems associated with the acceptance of overseas qualifications and possibly study in j depth one profession or one industry containing a large number of professionally trained immigrants.
