Plane For Tests
The New Zealand-designed and manufactured Air Tourer 150 will be evaluated as a possible elementary training aircraft for the Royal New Zealand Air Force at Wigram this month. Tests have already been arranged for the Royal Air Force, which is also considering the Air Tourer as a replacement training aircraft. The complete flying and technical study of the craft will begin at Wigram on November 20 and will last about three weeks. Built at Rukuhia by Aero Engine Service, Ltd, the plane was designed by Mr J. Frost, of Air New Zealand. It will be tested as a trainer, light communications aircraft and a spotting aircraft, and if chosen will probably be an interim measure for the ageing Harvards at present in use until the Air Force can obtain pure jet trainers.
