Parliamentarians a P . proved their own salary increases yesterday when the report of the Royal Commission on Parliamentary Salaries and Allowances was adopted without amendment.
When the Social Services Committee reported on a petition asking for an investigation of Scientology in New Zealand, the committee’s recommendation to Parliament was that the petition be given most favourable consideration.
The Marine Fanning Bill was introduced and read a first time. Ministers answered 14 questions. The Summit Road (Canterbury) Protection Amendment Bill was referred back to the committee of the House for consideration of clause 3.
The Northland Harbour Board Vesting and Empowering Bill was read a third time and passed. During the evening the House continued with legislation.
