SEAMEN WILL STOP WORK ON MONDAY
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 7. Members of the Seamen’s Union throughout New Zealand will hold a stoppage on Monday to discuss conditions, Mr W. Martin, the national president of the union, said today.
The stoppage will start at midnight on Sunday and will last 24 hours. Al) sailings are expected to be stopped. The first sailing of the inter-island steamer express Maori, will be from Wellington at midnight on Monday. The new timetable is:— Depart Wellington, midnight, Monday, November 11; arrive Lyttelton, about 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 12. Depart Lyttelton, 8.15 p.tn., Tuesday, November 12; arrive Wellington, 6.30 a.m., Wednesday; November 13. Depart Wellington, 9 a.m., Wednesday, November 13; arrive Lyttelton, about 6.30 p.m., Wednesday, November 13. Depart Lyttelton, 8.15 p.m., Wednesday, November 13; thereafter the usual timetable.
Passengers whose bookings are affected by the change should advise the nearest Union Steam Ship Company office without delay, the company says.
A Railways Department spokesman said this afternoon that the Picton to Wellington ferries, Aramoana and Aranui, would not run on Mon-
day. The scheduled sailing from Picton at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, has also been cancelled.
