Manslaughter Appeal

WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. The Court of Appeal today reserved its decision on an appeal brought by Marion Benton against a sentence of 10 years imprisonment imposed by Mr Justice Macarthur in the Supreme Court at Christchurch on September 27 in respect of a charge of manslaughter.
The charge related to the use of an instrument on a 15-year-old girl with intent to procure a miscarriage. Benton (Mr D. H. Stringer) is appealing on the ground that the sentence was manifestly excessive.
