BUSINESS DROP
Armstrong’s Post Office
There was a marked decline in business at the Armstrong’s post office yesterday the first day the store was closed.
The volume of mail fell about 50 per cent and other business transactions were down about one-third.
Many commercial and professional offices which had become accustomed to using the facilities of the post office since it opened eight years ago transferred their postings to the Chief Post Office. The Armstrong’s Post Office has employed seven permanent staff and one casual in the last year or two. The full staff will be transferred to the new Armagh Street post office when it opens in midDecember.
