Senator Jack Outruns Rivals At Westport

(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT. Senator Jack, which had been off the winning list since the Craven Plate at Riccarton in 1967, revelled in the heavy track conditions to win the Buller Hotels’ Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Westport Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday.

The Westport-trained Why Should We impressively won the Jennings Memorial Stakes. G. W. Mein jumped him into the lead from the. start and he was never headed, responding well to a strong challenge by Hi Jack in the run home.
