Longest Term
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, Sept. 15. When he was elected unopposed on Friday as Mayor of Gisborne for his seventh term, Mr H. H. Barker maintained his record of being the longest serving mayor in a New Zealand city. Mr Barker was elected in 1950 in a three-way contest against Messrs 11. F. Wise and G. J. Jeune.
