Cars Still In Wahine
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept 1. Plans to bring 15 cars ashore from the Wahine were again abandoned today because of a strong southerly swell. One man who had visited the ship described the cars as being in terrible condition. Damage suffered in the storm and the sea, silt, and oil had turned them into a “rotting heap,” he said.
The cars will be landed at Queen’s Wharf from the salvage barge, possibly tomorrow, and auctioned after being cleaned.
