FOUNDATION STONE LAID
The library will be a memorial to a former vicar of Sumner and precentor of Christchurch Cathedral, the late Canon W. A. Orange. The library will specialise in commentaries and other Biblical literature, much of which was the property of Canon Orange.
The building will cost $30,000 and will be completed early next year. It is sited opposite Christchurch College in Waimairi Road and will be known as Latimer House. It will include a warden’s residence and all works in the library will be available to clergy and students of Biblical subjects. The photograph shows the foundation stone being laid by the Rt Rev. A, K. Warren, the former Bishop of Christchurch, yesterday afternoon.
