Motorway Plans
Sir, —Recently it was stated that the Opawa expressway would not come into use for at least 20 years. Does this also apply to the Brougham Street extension joining with Opawa Road? It is very difficult to get any satisfaction on this point, which is of vital interest to house-owners involved. —Yours, etc., ONE OF THEM. August 22, 1968.
[The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) replies: “The Brougham Street extension is, at present, scheduled for construction some time between 1971 and 1975. The actual construction dates depend on the availability of finance from both local and National Roads Board sources, but it can be assumed that the
Brougham Street extension will be constructed well in advance of the Opawa expressway.”]
