EVERYTHING PAID

The New Zealand roller skating team left Christchurch for Italy yesterday, with all of its $6600 expenses guaranteed.

“The finance is assured, the team is going away absolutely debt-free,” the manager (Mr R. Young, of Hastings) said. "The four team members outfitted themselves with their travelling uniform, but all their other expenses have been found by the clubs throughout New Zealand. “It has been a hard struggle but with the dubs who have skaters in the team contributing a very large percentage of the finance, we have made it.”

Mr Young told a farewell reception at Christchurch International Airport that “the greatest ambassadors to the sport and to New Zealand” were being sent away. “We are going away humble, biit our approach will be determined,” he said. The captain, G. E. Glover, said the four skaters were going away better prepared than last year’s world tour party. Glover, and Misses R Alexander and M. Macdonald were in that team, but D. Hayes is touring for the first time. Glover said that on that

trip, they' had met all their main opponents for the world championships next month, except the Argentinians.
