S.I. Irish Hornpipe Title Won By Christchurch Dancer

A Christchurch man, Mr B. North, formerly of Ashburton, won the South Island Championship for Irish Hornpipe dancing at the Ashburton Competition Society’s annual festival on Tuesday night. He scored 93 points out of a possible 100.

Roseirtary Armstrong, of Christchurch, was second with 87 points and Leta Herron, of Oamaru, was third with 86 points.

The judge, Mr B. Smafle, of Mosgiel, said that Mr North’s performance had finish and sparkle. Although it was an open class Mr North was the only man to compete and he was to be commended on entering into competition with 10 other competitors far younger than himself.
