Both skaters had special time trials over 5000 metres before leaving for the world championships in Italy, and both came within 6sec of world records. She was timed at Bmin 34sec, and the national record is llmin 19sec. The world record, Bmin 28sec, was set last year by Marisa Danisi (Italy), who is expected to be one of Miss Alexander’s major opponents next month. Ther four skaters—D. Hayes and Miss M. Macdonald, are the others—and their manager, Mr R. Young, will leave Christchurch tomorrow.
