Dashing Trial By Capasco

Capasco, the early favourite for the President’s Handicap at the Eastern Southland Hunt meeting at Gore on Saturday, ran a dashing trial at Invercargill yesterday morning. Working alone, he ran the last five furlongs of a mile in Imin 56 4-ssec the half-mile in 51 2-ssec. Capasco has thrived since his racing at the Grand National meeting. The course proper was open, with the trestles 20ft out. The track was easy after a frost. Grey Lance and Belidon were responsible for a first-class trial over three furlongs in 39 4-ssec, the last two in 26 3-ssec. They finished together. Belldon, which is now trained by E. E. O’Brien, showed some ability last season, before going amiss. Stormbell showed some dash in the early stages of a sixfurlong run, the first two in 25 2-ssec and she ran the full distance in imin 21 3-ssec, the last half-mile in 56 l-ssec.
Just Belle worked over six furlongs in lmin.2lsec, the last half-mile in 54sec.
Bellesse and Just One finished together at the end of five furlongs in Imin Ssec, the first three in 40sec and the last halfmile in 55sec.
Segundo and Soncerai went off from the mile and a quarter and came home from the five furlongs in Imin Ssec, the first three furlongs in 40sec and the last half-mile in 54 3-ssec.
