PALAMOS FIT

“The Press” Special Service

PALMERSTON NORTH.

Palamos is making pleasing progress at Awapuni and he was responsible for an outstanding gallop yesterday. Palamos will resume racing on the second day of the Wanganui meeting on Saturday week. His half mile gallop was the outstanding feature of the morning’s work.

Palamos ran well at the trials last week and he has obviously improved since then. He accompanied Fair Ally on the course proper and they took 50 3-ssec for the journey, the last three furlongs in 37sec. Fair Ally was an impressive winner at the matinee meeting. He has come up better than ever this season and could be an early winner.

Royal Rye and Janess were galloping strongly all the way over three furlongs in 36 3-ssec. Jarnac took Imin 4sec for five furlongs. On the plough Supa was travelling comfortably over five furlongs in Imin 6sec, the last three in 41sec. She finished second behind Autobe at Carterton and could be an improver for the F. F. Newman Handicap at Wanganui, especially if the ground is reasonably good. Royal Admiral was never at top while galloping seven furlongs in Imin 43sec. the last three in 43sec. He looks one of the best prospects in the TallyHo Steeplechase at Wanganui.
