New Zealand beat Queensland, three rubbers to one, when the Australian men’s team squash championships were continued at Perth on Monday night. The only winner for Queensland was the improved D. Prickett who gave a good performance to beat D. Burmister in four sets. The New Zealand women’s team was beaten, 3-1, by South Australia. In this match Miss V. Biss (New Zealand) played strongly to gain a five-set win over Miss M. Tierney, who is ranked fifth in Australia. West Australia gave an excellent performance to beat South Australia, three rubbers to nil. Queensland beat West Australia, 4-0. Men’s Events Victoria beat Tasmania, 4 rubbers to 0. New Zealand beat Queensland, 3-1 (J. Isaacs beat M. Donnelly, 9- 9-2, 9-2; C. Waugh beat D. Jackman, 9-6, 9-3, 9-1; D. Burmister lost to D. Prickett, 4-9, 10- 6-9, 6-9; T. Johnstone beat D. Wright, 9-3, 9-3, 9-4). Western Australia beat South Australia, 3-1. Women’s Events South Australia beat New Zealand, 3-1 (C. Shiner beat J. Hislop, 4-9, 9-1, 9-1, 9-6; D. Walters beat R. Stephens, 10-8, 10-8, 9-0; J. McGorm beat P. Buckingham. 9-4, 9-10, 9-4, 9-5; M. Tierney lost to V. Biss, 5-9, 9-0, 5-9, 9-4, 4-9). New South Wales beat Victoria, 4-0. Queensland beat Western Australia, 4-0.
