Invitation To Instructor
Mr E. Wilson, the judo teacher in Ashburton who doubted that the Pakistani wrestler, Zamar Khan, could do 2000 press-ups and 2000
squats, has been issued a “friendly invitation” to come to Christchurch to see this done.
Mr J. Tyler, the publicity officer of the Canterbury Wrestling Association, said yesterday that the association would like Mr Wilson to come to Christchurch to see, not only Khan, but also members of the New Zealand junior wrestling team. “These boys are doing between 200 and 500 each of press-ups and squats a day,” said Mr Tyler. “Also, Khan has not practised all week because of an injury, but he is now back to doing 500 of each. By Sunday, he will be back to 1000 of each, and we would be very pleased if Mi Wilson could come to Crichton Cobbers and see all these people in action.” Mr Wilson doubted a published statement that Khan was capable of so many pressups and squats. Mr Wilson said he did 75 press-ups a day in lots of 25, and felt that anyone attempting too many could cause himself serious harm.
Fast Swim.— The Hawke's Bay Olympic swimmer, Miss Sandra Whlttleston, unofficially broke her New Zealand 100 yards butterfly short course record during training at Taupo. She bettered her time ol 61.6 sec by l.Tsec in the 25-yard De Brett thermal pool.
