The Canterbury Badminton Association is negotiating to have the Indonesian Über Cup team play in a benefit match in Christchurch next Monday evening to help defray the team’s travelling expenses.
The management committee will meet tonight to arrange the match if it has been approved by the New Zealand federation.
The team of six players Is competing in the New Zealand championships at Dunedin now, and will have a week free before the Über Cup matches in Masterton on September 7. If the match is approved it will give badminton enthusiasts in Christchurch the opportunity to see one of the world's best badminton players, Minarni, in action. Minarni was a finalist in the women’s singles at the AllEngland championships this year.
