Although the University club had written to the union on IS! the game, saying it intended playing Som■nervine In the B team. It had not approached the permit committee, said Mr J. K Torrance. Its action, therefore, constituted a breach of the rules.
Mr B. J. Drake said the rule was not printed in the union's handbook, and he doubted whether University knew it had to seek the permission of the permit committee.
The club should have been guided by the rule which prohibited clubs with more than one team in any grade from transferring players after they had played four games for one side, replied Mr Torrance.
