WELLINGTON, August 27. The number of permanent immigrants in New Zealand has dropped by 21.4 per cent. Immigrants intending to remain in New Zealand outnumbered New Zealanders leaving the country permanently by 2188 during the year ended March 31, compared with 17,871 for the previous year. The abstract of statistics for July shows that the number of permanent immigrants dropped from 38,999 in 1967 to 30,660 in this year.
