Misses D. Meyer, C. Kolb and C. Ball all broke world records on Sunday in qualifying for places on the United States women’s Olympic swimming team. Miss Meyer shaved 2sec off her own world record in the 400 metres freestyle event, and was clocked in 4min 25.555ec. Her own recognised record is 4min 26.75ec. Miss L. Gustavson was second in 4min 28.215ec and Miss P. Kruse third in 4min 28.80 sec. Miss Kolb won the 200 metres individual medley with a new record time of 2min 23.55ec. In the third record-break-ing swim of the day, Miss Ball set a new world standard in the women’s 100 metres breaststroke, winning the event in Imin 14.265ec. The pending record, established by Miss G. Prozmenshikova (Russia) was Imin 15.4 sec.
