MAJOR HOTEL EXTENSIONS

WELLINGTON, August 25.

Major extensions costing $5.5m for the Grand Hotel, Wellington, have been announced.

The hotel’s chairman of directors, Mr T. Coltman, and the managing director of Dillingham Transportation (N.Z.), Ltd, Sir William Stevenson, signed an agreement last week to go ahead with the planned extensions. Multi-storey additions will provide 205 centrally heated rooms and suites, together with full facilities, convention rooms, more bar space, restaurants, and a sky room on the roof overlooking the harbour. The hotel will be raised to

i first-class international standards. Covered parking for 100 cars will be provided with access from Boulcott Street. The largest independentlyowned hotel in New Zealand, the Grand has been owned by the Coltman family for more than 50 years.
