Man Drowned In Harbour

CHATHAM IS, Aug. 25. A search continued all Saturday night at Waitangi Harbour, Chatham Islands, after a Christchurch man was missing when a dinghy overturned. The man, presumed drowned was William Peter Paynter, aged 39, married, with seven children, of 108 Wakefield Avenue, Sumner. Mr Paynter, with two companions was making his way in the dinghy back to their boat anchored in the harbour. The other two men were picked up by a nearby boat.

A helicopter joined the search for Mr Paynter, which went on all night.
