Litter
Sir, —After reading that an anti-litter competition in Christchurch schools has been approved, I became more hopeful that in the not too distant future we might have a clean city and suburbs. One has only to pass any area, after any week-end or holiday, to know where the public have been. Even where rubbish containers are provided, they are still too far away for most folk to make use of them, it being much easier to throw rubbish down on the ground than to move an inch to put it in the container. Good luck to the antilitte.r competition. May the young folk remember what they learn from it, and be successful in preparing the way for their parents and others to mend their ways.— Yours, etc., WAYSIDE TIDINESS. August 20, 1968.
