DEATH OF YOUTH

Heart Failure Responsible

(N.Z. Press Association)

HAMILTON, Aug. 20. A 16-year-old youth died from acute heart failure caused by the shock of vomiting, the Hamilton Coroner’s Court found today. The Hamilton Coroner (Mr A. G. Ward) was conducting an inquest into the death of Bruce Douglas Carter, of Hamilton.

The youth died at his home early on the morning of May 20. Evidence was given that he played a game of Rugby on May 19, and had an amount of beer after the game.

The court was told that the youth had previously been treated for respiratory trouble.

Early on May 20, the family was awakened by sounds from the youth’s room. His father found him having difficulty breathing. Constable E. Fleming, of the Frankton police, who was called to the house, said he found indications that the youth had attempted to vomit out his bedroom window. A post-mortem examination showed that the youth had not been asphyxiated.
