SAFE AIR’S PROBLEMS
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 8. It was essential to the national economy that Safe Air, Ltd, continue its operations, “even if in a drastically reduced form," the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr Gordon) said to the Aviation Industry Association at its conference today. Mr Gordon said the freight business of the airline had dropped by 32 per cent in two years. “It is no secret that Safe Air has approached the Government for assistance,” Mr Gordon said. The Government was still looking for ways in which to help Safe Air.
He said rumours that the airline was “dead and done” were false. Nothing could be further from the truth.
