Ski-ing Students

Four young Canterbury skiers—Susan Willis (Canterbury Winter Sports Club), Judy Stevenson (Amuri), Alistair Ensor (Windwhistle) and Tim Stewart (Canterbury W.S.C.) have been awarded McKenzie ski scholarships. They will have a week of free instruction under the 1968 Olympic representative, Miss A. Reid, of Otago, at Coronet Peak.

The other two scholarship winners, Allan Mills and Revell Buckan, are both members of the Wakatipu Ski Club. Two reserves have been named: David Oddie (Canterbury W.S.C.) and Hugh Knowles (Wakatipu). The scholarship winners will have their accommodation at Coronet Peak paid for

them and the Mount Cook Tourist Company, which cooperates with the scholarship scheme in many ways, will provide free lift facilities. Miss Reid, the first Olympic representative to be appointed to such a post, will live with the young skiers at Coronet Peak. The McKenzie scholarship scheme has been operating for about 15 years.
