(N.Z.P.A.-Reut«r— CopyrigM) SANTA CLARA. One world record was broken and an American record Improved at the close of the tbree-day Santa Clara international swimming meeting. In the 1500 metres men’s freestyle, G. Echevarria, of Mexico, shattered the world mark by swimming the disstance in 16min 28.1 sec, 6sec under the record set last year by M. Burton (United States).
