Johnson And Thieu To Met In Pacific
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, July 9. President Nguyen Van Thieu of South Vietnam and President Johnson will meet in Honolulu on or about July 20, it was announced today.
The Associated Press says the meeting, at which the
Vietnam war and the efforts being made in Paris to end it will be discussed, replaces the planned State visit to the United States postponed by President Thieu yesterday because of what he said was information about an imminent Communist offensive in South Vietnam. The Presidential communique issued in Saigon said that President Johnson had agreed to President Thieu’s suggestion that they should meet “somewhere in the Pacific”’ in the next few weeks.
