Missiles In Mongolia Trained On China
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LONDON, July 9. The Russians have set up missile bases in Outer Mongolia within striking range of Chinese nuclear bases and United States bases in Korea, Japan and Okinawa, according to British defence reports. The rocket sites, some of them on wheels, have been installed quietly with the consent of the pro-Moscow regime in Outer Mongolia. Outer Mongolia signed a 20year defence agreement with the Russians two years ago, the pact being aimed against China, to deter Peking from moves against the Mongolians. Earlier military reports had said the Russians had moved troops and armoured units into the vast Mongolian plains. The new reports say the missiles are poking skywards in the remote eastern areas of Outer Mongolia. These could srike industrial and nuclear centres in the north of Communist China Missiles sited on Soviet territory already have China’s
nuclear centres in the province of Sinkiang under cover.
