Upset Win To Rex In Women’s Basketball

Rax provided a major upeet when It overwhelmed Brighton, 26-4. In the A grade women’s Indoor basketball competition, In Cowles Stadium, last evening.

Brighton, second In the competition, had no answer to the efficient play of Rex and had to struggle to get within range of the basket. Rex moved up another place on the points ladder to third, six points behind Brighton. Checkers retained their unbeaten record with a comfortable win over Rebels. 35-25. They now have an impressive lead of 10 points. Points are: Checkers 28. Brighton 18, Rex 12, Rebels 11. University A 0, Rangiora 2. Disappointing Play REX J. Sloper 6 H. Fellows 6, S. Lee 6, E. Ross, Brighton s performance was disappointing. When shots were taken they were invariably hasty and mostly missed their mark. For Rex. J. Sloper had a sound offensive game. H. Fellows was the key to many promising Rex movements. B. Strong, Brighton's top scorer, tried hard but nobody else played to their usual form. Rex led 12-3 at half-time. Checkers Win CHECKERS 33: S. Checkers, comfortably beat Rebels, but their play was rather jaded. However, Checkers were never In danger of defeat: they led 20-10 at halftime. The prominent players for Checkers were S. Rennell and the tall centre, P. Wadsworth. Rennell scored a valuable 18 points, mostly from .basic passing and cutting. Rebels played their usual methodical game.
