Rangers Lead Ice Hockey
Rangers took the lead tn the Canterbury Ice Hockey Association’s competitions, after beating an inexperienced Dragons side last evening at the Centaurus ice rink.
Dragons fought back well but lacked the quick, clean passing that was a feature of Rangers' game. W. Guy (Dragons), whose jaw was broken in an accident on the ice at Lake Ida on Sunday. gamely played with it strapped. The points, with the third and final round of the Christchurch Cup to begin next week, are: Rangers 6, Pirates 4. and Dragons 2. RANGERS 7: K. Stevenson, J. Philips 3, J. Hanning. B. Montgomery, S. Pluck. DRAGONS 6: G. Parker 4. W. Guy. D. Jury. R. Moore (Dragons), worked vigorously in goal and stopped Dragons from taking a heavy defeat. With Rangers playing an exciting team game. Dragons* tactics were based on hit-and-run moves to send Parker and Guy in on forward moves to the Rangers' goal. Dragons were never behind by more than a goal In any of the last three quarters and were unlucky not to score in the final three minutes when they battered at Rangers goal.
