Mr S. G. Farry
"The Press’* Special Service DUNEDIN. Mr S. G. Farry, of Dunedin, who died at Invercargill on Wednesday, had a lifetime interest in racing. He trained his own horses at Gore until ill health forced him to give up and he sold his property at Gore to the trainer, E. A. Winsloe, with whom he formed a successful partnership. One of the best horses Mr Farry raced was Liban, a winner at Trentham and at Rlccarton where he shares the track record of Imin 35 l-ssec for one mile with Fountainhead. Later Liban made a successful start at the stud, but died soon after.
From the good mare Taj he bred and raced Baalbek and Faraj.
In recent years the partnership raced with outstanding success Summer Magic and their most recent acquisition is Red Copy, the winner of six races this season, including four of his last five starts.
Red Copy was entered by the partnership for the Caulfield Cup and other feature races at the Melbourne spring meetings. Mr Farry is survived by his widow, four sons and three daughters.
