Court Rapid Dead
"The Press’* Special Service CAMBRIDGE. The good galloper, Court Rapid, collapsed and died while working on the sand at Cambridge yesterday morning. Court Rapid, which was to have raced in the Rawson Memorial Handicap at Avondale next week, had covered only a furlong when he staggered and fell through the running rail. He died within minutes. Court Rapid, a four-year-old by Final Court from Fox Raid, was a full brother to Court Raid and a half-brother to Foxskin. He was raced by Mrs H. Coulter. of Hamilton. He was trained at Cambridge throughout his career by W. W. Townsend. The stable jockey, G. R. Edge, who rode Court Rapid, escaped with a bruised right hip and grazed right hand. Back In Work Harold Bank, winner of three races from J. L. Barr’s stable this season, is back in work after a short spell. He was put aside after winning the Richmond Handicap at Easter. Early Dawn, another member of Barr’s team has had to be eased because of a foot bruise. He has missed a week’s work, but it is hoped that he will be fit to race on the second day of the South Canterbury winter meeting.
