Ambulances Dedicated
Two new vehicles for the St John Ambulance were dedicated by the Priory chaplain (Bishop A. K. Warren) at a formal ceremony in Hagley Park yesterday afternoon. The vehicles—a wheel-chair ambulance and an ambulance to carry outpatients—were banded over to the director of the St John Ambulance in Christchurch (Mr A. T. Gandell) by the chairman of the Christchurch sub-centre (Mr D. H. Lawrence). Members of the sub-centre and brigade were present. Eight members of the brigade formed a guard of honour which was inspected by Mr Gandell. Also present at the ceremony was Brigadier J. M. Mitchell, chief commissioner. Priory in New Zealand, of the St John Ambulance Brigade. Mr Gandell congratulated the brigade for acquiring the vehicles. The wheel-chair vehicle is an addition to the association’s fleet. The outpatient ambulance is a replacement. Two larger replacement ambulances will be bought by the association later this year.
