N.Z. WHEAT CROP
Estimate Of Yield The Government Statistician (Mr J. V. T. Baker) now estimates that the wheat crop, which has just been harvested, will have yielded 14.9 m bushels for both milling and animal feed purposes from 308,400 acres. Department of Agriculture estimates of yield made after the harvest began have been used in these calculations. Mr Baker, however, makes no estimate of the qauntity of -this wheat which will not come up to milling standard after the recent outbreak of sprouting in the southern part of the South Island. In the previous season 230,562 acres yielded 12,777,749 bushels of wheat.
Mr A. R. Wilson, a Napier City Council valuer, was yesterday elected Dominion president of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers at the annual conference in Napier. —(P.A.)
