Six Deaths On N.I. Roads
Six persons all in the North Island—were killed in road accidents reported at the week-end.
A Chinese woman died when a car hit a power pole just south of Maxwell on the Wanganui highway at 8.20 a.m. on Saturday. She was Mrs Sue Kum Joe, aged 66, of Stratford. Car Skidded A woman was fatally injured when her car skidded and overturned one mile south of the Mangaweka railway station, on the No. 1 Highway, at 11.15 a.m. on Saturday. She was Mrs Adorine Elizabeth Bird, aged 55, a widow, of
Calder Street, St Kilda, Dunedin. I Car In Ditch A Wellington man was killed late on Saturday night when his car slid into a ditch about three miles south of Paraparaumu. Police have not released his name and last evening were still looking for his relatives. Collision Death A man was killed when two cars collided at Papamoa at 1.10 a.m. on Saturday. He was Leslie Jones, aged 23, of 34 Ulster Street, Hamilton. Fell From Machine A motor-cyclist was killed when he fell from his machine at the intersection of Anzac Avenue and Parliament Street in Auckland at 2.45 a.m. on Saturday. He was Rodney William Butterworth, aged 28, of Esplanade Road, Mount Eden. Woman KiUed A woman was killed when two cars collided on the Mor-rinsville-Ohinewai road, south of Tahuna last evening. She was Mrs Jean Trewheela, aged 55, of Towai Street, St Heliers.
