Island Bay Candidate
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 16. Mr J. G. O’Brien has been selected as Labour candidate for the Island Bay electorate at next year’s General Election. A member of the Wellington City Council, Mr O’Brien was selected tonight at a special meeting of the Labour Party. The present Island Bay member, Mr A. H. Nordmeyer, will not be a candidate. He will retire at the end of his present term. Mr O’Brien will also stand for the city council in the October local body elections. Mr O’Brien, who is 43, is married with no children. He is managing director of an importing company in Wellington.
