NEW YORK, April 16. A national campaign to raise funds for the -families of 1300 Negro dustmen on strike for 10 weeks in Memphis, Tennessee, has been launched in New York under the auspices of the A.F.L.C. 1.0. labour confederation. The civil rights leader, Dr Martin Luther King, who was killed in Memphis by a gunman on April 4, had gone there to lead a mass march in support of the strikers. The strike is over union recognition, wages and other grievances over working conditions.
